Adoption 34: JOSIE

On January 19th, 2008 we went to the orphanage to go an get 1 baby and as usual I could not do just 1, I did 1 1 1. As you can see and for any one that knows me well, I cannot count more than 1.  I try not to look at getting  3 babies but more at the way of taking care of 1 baby. It helps me to keep my focus on the quote from Mother Teresa:

If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.

Anyway one of those babies was Josie.  The orphanage staff told me that she was a heart baby and I am always on the look out for heart babies.  Partly because it is so expensive to get surgeries and partly because they have very little chance of surviving. They need a lot of specialized care and often get pneumonia and if you are not careful they can spend weeks in the hospital. So they land up needing a lot of care.

In the very beginning Josie was so serious and somber.  Josie slowly got stronger and over time she started crawling and walking and babbling. She came out of her shell and would approach strangers.  She turned out to be one of our best singers and would sing though we had no idea what she was singing.  She loved going outside and playing on the swings.

She was adopted on July 12, 2010 and now lives in Massachusetts with her dad and mom and five siblings. Josie's family kept her Starfish name which was great.

As a side note the other two babies who came on the same day as Josie were Justin and Joseph. (yes for some odd reason all the names were J names that day) Justin was adopted to the Netherlands and Joseph will go September 4th, so they also left very close together.

Life, love and laughter,
Amanda
