Michael has been chosen

I am sorry if my letter about Michael seemed so dramatic. I was just hoping that he would get a family soon. The system in China allows a child to be with three different agencies for two months at a time, so six months in total. Michael was only at the first one, so there was still a long way to go. I was just eager for him to find a family of his very own so that he could be adopted quickly.

On Sunday morning I knew Michael had been chosen. I got a call from the orphanage asking for his updated picture, measurements and clothing size. When that happens, I know he has a family. I have no idea who the couple are, but I am so happy to know that there is a family who are preparing themselves to have Michael join them. We will have to wait until the Chinese government officially accepts the matching and even then, I might not know who they are until the adoption goes through.

Another piece of good news: The boy Joey I wrote about also seems to have found a family and his dossier is on hold at his agency. That happened just in the nick of time as his file was at the third agency and his two months was almost up.

Christopher is going to have his spina bifida surgery in six hours. His sack has gotten so big that the PICU doctors in Shanghai are nervous that it is going to burst and so to prevent that they are scheduled the surgery for today. The skin that covers the sack is so thin that you can see the spinal fluid though it. It almost looks like a glass with water in it. He is still on the respirator and his pneumonia has not healed completely, so this is going to be a really dangerous surgery. Please pray for baby Christopher to be strong and Dr Bao, the pediatric neurosurgeon and his medical staff do operate to the best if their ability as they try to save this boy's life.

I am always so grateful for the skills that the doctors and nurses have and which they share so willingly. My grateful thanks to everyone involved at the Shanghai Children's Medical Center.

To Tingting one of the biggest child advocates that I know: Girl you rock!!!! I know I do not thank you enough for everything that you do. Thank you for you helping me with my children and the hundreds of children from all over China that you so selflessly help on a daily basis. You are a wonderful example of what good one person can do. You have my utmost respect and admiration. I want to be more like you.

Love and laughter,
Amanda

This is such happy news that anything that can bother me today seems insignificant.

Just saw a recent picture of Sarah yesterday and am so blessed. My daughter and her husband are Sarah's new parents and I am just overjoyed to be her new grandmother. Thank you so much for all the photos and updates throughout her life. We are just amazed with all the information about Sarah that we have gained and have been reading nearly continuously since yesterday. Sarah has three brothers anxiously waiting to see her and we have all already fallen in love with her. Thank you Lord for your blessings and for Amanda and everyone that cares for and loves these many precious children. I will keep you always in my prayers.
