Spina Bifida surgeries

People often ask me how they can help and so here is a chance to make such a difference in the lives of five children, who all have spina bifida. In the middle of April, these five children from Shaanxi Province, where I live, will get the opportunity to have surgery performed by one of the foremost surgeons in the world. Dr. Jorge Lazareff is the director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at UCLA Mattel's Children Hospital and he with his wife, Dr. Barbara who is a pediatric anesthesiologist, will be in China to donate their time and skills. I am so grateful to them for making this trip and for helping the children, since it is really difficult to find surgeons who are able to perform these complicated surgeries. We have to raise US$3000 for each child which covers the hospital expenses and medication.

As you might know, my very first medical trip was a spina bifida surgery with Nina/Flower and Dr Lazareff. I was so in awe of this team's skills and for the miracle of seeing her sack removed. I know first hand the amazing difference that Dr Lazreff's team can make. Watching Nina/Flower was so emotional and I will forever be grateful for knowing that there are doctors who can do this surgery to allow children to have a normal healthy life.

So no matter how much you would like to send, it will make a difference!!!

I know that this is never just the work of one person but that is through many people making a contribution that we can accomplish so much. Love without Boundaries, Federal ID # 06-1710161for tax free deductions ( http://www.lovewithoutboundaries.com/) are going to be collecting all the donations and if you would like to help here are the websites. I will also use the exsisting money which is in my medical fund at LWB. So here are my three "flowers":

Jasmine http://www.lovewithoutboundaries.com/SponsorChildDetailMedical.php?ID=291
Lily http://www.lovewithoutboundaries.com/SponsorChildDetailMedical.php?ID=295

The other two, Matthew and Carrie are 5 and 6 years old and they are still in their orphanage up north but I agreed to help them. They are named after Matthew and Carrie, who are the best of volunteers because they take care of me too, often by being so willing so eager to cook for me (Wonderful Mexican food last night).

I am so grateful for LWB for always being so willing to work in the best interest of the children. They really do live up to their motto: Ever Child Counts.

Love and laughter,
Amanda
