Dear Friends,
I’m writing to
share an update about our dear, beloved Amanda. Thank you for your many
messages and photos you have shared since her last post on July 8th. As you
know, she has been in hospice care with loving friends from near and far,
church members, and nurses around her – a beautiful circle of care for her as
she is going through this part of her life’s journey.
As the cancer is
progressing, Amanda is having increased pain and discomfort, and therefore
increased medication. Her moments of clarity are becoming fewer – the nurses
believe the cancer is quickly advancing.
We ask you to now contact Sherri Farr at 615-260-8640 or email at sherrifarr@comcast.net to check
if visits are advised.
We are able to
tell Amanda of your phone calls and concern when she is lucid and that always
brings a smile to her face!
Please continue
to send your stories and photos to StoriesofStarfish@gmail.com and if you’re her friend on Facebook,
please continue to post messages to her there. We will update the blog as there
is news to share.
Please also know that one of Amanda's request is to have a memorial celebration of her life once the time is appropriate. This will be an open service that all are welcome to attend. Information about the timing of the memorial will be released once it is determined.
Amanda
appreciates your prayers and concern – and she feels them daily. On her behalf,
thank you!
As Amanda would
say: life, love and laughter -- always,
Love,
Eve

I bought a starfish necklace for my daughter in honor of Amanda. My daughter was adopted from China. I will give it to her for her birthday.
Thank you Amanda for all the starfish you saved!
Dear Amanda,
It is sadness to my Heart to hear that you are not so well.In the short time I have known of you, and what you stand for,God has known you since before the beginning of time. You stepped up in the appointed time and gladly accepted the duty which He placed you in.I know you have been a great asset in the care, guidance, comfort, and love of all the children who have crossed your path. These "PRECIOUS" little ones are the Greatest of ALL God's treasures and you have done well to add to that richness.I will continue to ask God to be kind to you but,if He has a better plan, know you are so very welcome where ever He leads you.All you have done,God has kept note of,.Heaven has your reward.
Hebrews 4:13 " Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account."
2 Corinthians 3:3 "You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts."
John 14:2 " Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."
Matthew 25:31-46 " When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: (32) and before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: (33) and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. (34) Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: (35) for I was ahungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: (36) naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. (37) Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee ahungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? (38) When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? (39) Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? (40) And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my children, ye have done it unto me."
I was adopted,I spent alot of time waiting for a home,to be wanted,to be loved. It was before your time, but it was who you are,in someone else, who rescued me.
My Prayers are for your recovery, safety, care, and Love. You have a friend in me for the fact of who you are, what you contain within, and for the love you have given to the "Little Ones" so very very dear to my Heart.
If the time should come that I don't talk to you,or see you here,I will see you when I get Home,in Glory.
Your Friend,
Thomas H. McFarland
