Saturday, February 7th, Ian celebrated his 8th birthday with a day of fun, games, and friends. He asked for donations for Emily (because it will be the name of his sister from China when we get our referral instead of gifts, and we are happy to report his friends helped him raise $105 for Starfish. His friends were all so excited to be able to help! Thank-you for giving us the opportunity to share with you! His older brother is already thinking of what he wants to do.
For me, the best part was that my almost 13 year old boy told his brother, "Wow Ian, that is so cool! I love that you are helping an orphan. I want to do that too!" How many times does a 12 year old boy look at his 8 year old brother and say something that great?!? Ian did ask me if it would be okay if we adopt Breanna...if only it were so easy! Out of the mouth of babes. (Emily doesn't have long enough hair for him...he wants his sister to have more hair than she does).
Thanks again for letting us partner with you and use pictures to help share more information about what you are doing in China.

Starfish Foster Home
Xian China
At Starfish, we have taken care of 67 children to date, arranged almost 50 surgeries and had a whopping 18 international adoptions, so our little starfishes live all over the globe: the US (latest adoptions to Kentucky and New Jersey), Netherlands, Norway and Spain. Two children are matched at the moment waiting for their families. We currently have 30 babies under the age of 3 1/2 at two foster homes. We just opened a new cleft palate house on February 5, 2009.
