The Tibetan baby

So many of you have asked what happened to the Tibet baby, Suo Na Bai Mu whom I met when I was in Shanghai when I was here in October. She is still here and will be leaving the hospital next Monday. The translator, Suo Na Bai Mu and her mom will be in Shanghai until the end of the month before they go back to Tibet.

If you would like to read the whole story, it is really fascinating. Here is the English Website: http://www.soho-ku.com/en/looknews.asp?newsid=259 .

The surgery was very successful. The parasitic twin that was removed weighed 6.7 pounds. When I saw Suo Na Bai Mu again I could see that she has visibly become plumper. She has been nursing really well and I am sure not having to feed for two is going to make a huge difference. I heard that there is enough donations to be able to educate Suo Na Bai Mu which is wonderful because her mom was not able to got to school.

I am including some photos of her before the surgery where she has a bald head. She is such a beautiful child. Laughs so easily!!!

It is interesting to me that yesterday I learned about the same sort of thing in India. There was a girl born with eight limbs, four legs and four arms and a 36 surgeons are taking 40 hours to separate the two of them. You can read about it on CNN and see a video: http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/11/06/india.girl/index.html
